It All Depends On What You Want Out Of Your Camera. Nikon, Canon, Pentax And Sony All Make Nice Cameras. If You are Looking For A Nice Entry Level Camera, I Recommend The Canon XS. Do Not Let A Salesperson Pressure You Into A Camera That Is Not Right For You. Start looking And Learning. If It Takes You 6 MOnths To Deicde, Thats Good, It Means You Will Get What You Want. Shutter Speed And Focus Is Important, And Lens Selection And Quailty. Ease Of use Will Vary WIth Person To Person. I will have to ume that you mean a fully adjustable camera, so you are looking at either a 35 mm SLR or DSLR B&H Photo has good equipment at reasonable prices. Craigslist has good used 35 mm SLR cameras. Nikon and Canon may be the best choice since they have the largest camera systems available
From $1 at a dollar store up to $37. 000 Decent compacts start around the $100 mark, but are mostly automatic and under bad light conditions probably will not work well. Bridge Cameras offer the functions of a DSLR without the ability to switch lens in a compact body. Superzooms on the other hand have their biggest selling point in a HUGE zoom.
