How do I get some of my photography in at a gallery in San Diego?
Im a photographer living in San Diego and I am on the rise and trying to find out how to get some of my photography into galleries in southern California. Thanks!- You could stop by the galleries and give them some of your best work, and just say "This is some of my work, here you go, if you are interested in using anything or wanting to shoot some stuff for the gallery, feel free to give me a call, or send me an e - mail. " And give them a business card that provides your name, phone number, e - mail, and other info. that may be needed to contact you, such as the address for your studio if you have one. Or you could go online and find the e - mails of some executives there and send them an e - mail attaching some of your best work and give the your contact info. good luck. btw; I am also a photographer. :
- Ansell's got the right point - visit them - with prints. Preferably mounted and ready for presentation. Use high quality archival paper and have the shots ready to roll. Photography of all kinds is a pretty over - saturated field, including fine art, so it's compe ive. A CD - ROM will not show the quality of the job printing, nor the quality of paper used or the job that was done mounting the print. Galleries sell the art that's hanging, and even if the shot is great - if it's on a poor paper not mounted or mounted poorly - it will not be particularly saleable. It will cost a decent amount - both in work for mounting and for printing to get some pieces together for a gallery - but if you have the potential to make that back and then some

That may seem a blunt answer but unless you are already a "name" then you are not going to be invited so you have to traipse around with your book and ideas for an exhibition. Be prepared for it to cost you a bundle. Last time I exhibited in Europe it cost me about £6000 but that more than paid for itself over the following months
